PERFORMANCE
Classically trained in piano and violin, Claire got lost on her way to the orchestra. An avid fan of indie rock and trip hop, these vastly different influences are piercingly evident in her signature style of haunting and ceaselessly fluid melodies. She is constantly trying to widen her playing stylistically, and has studied jazz, bluegrass, microtonal music and old time fiddle at Berklee College of Music.
Born and raised in Singapore, she started out playing the piano at the age of 5, and began teaching classical violin at 16. Soon after, Claire decided to pursue music full-time after finishing Secondary School. That was when she began performing gigs all around Singapore since 2004, playing folk/acoustic/rock originals and covers.
Since then, Claire has had the honour to perform for gigs and festivals across the world, including the 2011 SXSW Music Festival in Austin, the 2012 Ho Hai Yan Music Festival in Taiwan and the 2013/14 Singapore Grand Prix.
Claire is currently based in the United States. She loves all types of music and is always open to new ideas, collaborations and projects. She plays electric violin and guitar for the pop/hiphop band, Mad Yonder, who recently released their EP, The Land Between.
Claire is the lead-singer and songwriter of the indie-rock project, Paper Citizen. Their debut EP, Postcards In Transit was written and recorded in several studios around Boston in 2016. Their new single, Slow Motions, was released in March, 2017. Their sophomore EP is expected in early 2018.
Claire is available for booking as a stage or studio musician on the violin and guitar.
